Looking for a great backpackers or hostel in Muizenberg? You've come to the right place! Stoked Backpackers is literally a stone's throw away from Surfers' Corner in Muizenberg, Cape Town. This popular swimming beach is a blue flag beach, which means it gets top marks for safety, cleanliness and amenities. The beach break produces great waves, making it a hot spot for surfers. In fact, Muizenberg is one of the World's Best Surf Towns, according to National Geographic, who say, “A great surf town is the nearly magical sum of consistent waves, inviting accommodation, friendly locals, fun nightlife, delicious food, and plenty of activities should the ocean go flat.â€
Stoked Backpackers' three-storey building is newly renovated, so all the amenities in our youth hostel are brand spanking new. Our spacious rooms – all en-suite! – offer a variety of shared dorm accommodation, as well as some private family/friends rooms.
Our communal room has an unbeatable view for watching the lines roll in, or the sunrise (if you're up for it). We've got an awesome cafe where you can get a great cup of coffee, tasty bites and hang out with other travellers and locals.
We'll definitely make sure you get the most out of Muizenberg and surrounds. Visit our activity centre for all the intel on what to do. On the water, there's surfing, kitesurfing and stand-up paddling. If you don't know how to do any of those, this is the perfect place to learn. There's also boat tours that take you whale watching. For under the water, there's scuba diving where you can cage dive with the great white sharks or free diving with much friendlier ones. Of course, there's lots to do on land: it's the perfect place to start your peninsula tour, foray into the Cape Winelands or climb, walk or hike our unique fynbos-covered mountains.
Rooms
Crisp, fresh percale linen and comfy duvets await you. Bathroom towels are supplied with private rooms and can be rented for the dorms. Bring your own beach towel or you can rent them too. To save you from the wrapped-in-towel hallway dash, almost all the rooms have an en-suite bathrooms.
Reception desk is open from 8am to 8pm. If you are arriving after 8pm or before 8am, please let us know in advance.
We welcome anyone, any age, as long as they are young at heart and travelling. No long-term residents please.

By car from the airport:
Get out of the airport (Airport Cres, and Airport Approach Road).
Go on to Settlers Way/N2 heading towards Cape Town (about 10km).
After Observatory, take the M3 turn off.
After about 20km, the highway will end, turn left onto Steenberg Road.
Turn right onto Main Road. After about 3.5km, we're on the left, just before the train station.
By train:
Head southbound to Fish Hoek or Simon's Town. Get out at Muizenberg Station. Take the exit towards the mountain/Main Road. Walk out, look right - and there we are.
