A 10 day program held four times a year. An enriching and authentic experience in the heart of the Bribri community of Costa Rica. With a focus on culture, nature and active travel, this eco-trek is ideal for those with a sense of adventure - who also want to immerse themselves in the native local culture to experience the real world in a sustainable manner. Take the native trails and come home with jaw-dropping photographs and a deeper understanding of these incredible people, that have lived for centuries without polluting their environment. The trip begins and ends in the city of San Jose where Benjamin, your next best friend and guide will pick you up at the airport (tour is minimum 4 people, maximum 8) Two first nights are on the slopes of the Irazu Volcano on the Central Valley Mountain Range for orientation and lecture on Group Safety and Survival in Tropical Jungles and a couple of nice hikes around the volcano. Departure and until the end of the trip at the Caribbean slope on two 4WD up to the Bribri community where we will leave the car and hike the next three nights up the Talamanca Mountain range. The trip down will be on a canoe until the coast to Cahuita National Park. Last day before ending a white water rafting down the Sarapiqui River.
Trip is intended for all people above the age of 20 and in excellent physical conditions. Conditions are humid and hot and hiking hours can be up to 6 hours a day. Benjamin will have almost all the equipment you will need and his experience in the jungle as well as his accounts of his travels all over the world will make this adventure unforgetable.
Sleeping conditions will defer along the trip, our adventure is intended to be comfortable as well. The first two nights will be in a nature lodge with local home cooked meals, the nights with the Koswak community will be in mats on the floor with mosquito nets and with locally cooked meals as well. The will be one night at the forest, at Alto Uren on the sacred mountain of the Koswak. The last nights will be spend, one night at Cahuita National Park at a small B & B and the last night in the city of San Jose.
