Activity/Tourkeyboard_double_arrow_up
Our trips focus on 21st Century Mongolia - not just the Mongolia sold in the guide books or portrayed by tour companies. If you’re coming to Mongolia, you have to experience it’s past, present and future to get a real feel what what the country is about. Yes, you’ll get to experience the traditional way of life but at the same time gain an overview as what it means to be Mongolian in 21st Century Mongolia.

We're not like typical tour operators in Mongolia that only offer summer based trips - we offer trips all year round - adapting to the different seasons and what's best to experience at a specific time of year.

We focus on small group tours (maximum of six travellers), tailor made adventures, photography workshops, conservation focused trips arranged in alliance with Mongolian NGO's, family holidays and trekking expeditions.
Typical Daykeyboard_double_arrow_up
There is no typical day. It depends on the trip you decide to take with us.

We offer small group adventures with a maximum of six guests. We offer tailor made itineraries adapted to suit you. We also offer trekking itineraries, winter journeys and family experiences.

What you can expect though is genuine travel experiences that brings you in touch with Mongolia at a more local level. All trips we offer are flexible and fluid.

Meals are provided by the EL team. Each of our vehicles has a simple portable kitchen as it offers you more freedom and flexibility as we’re not reliant on anyone else to provide meals. It also means we can have picnic lunches en-route so as we prepare them you can be exploring the local landscapes or sitting and taking in the view.

Each itinerary will include driving days. Why? Most of the guests of Eternal Landscapes have heard my philosophy behind our 'road trips' - that flying from place to place gives you no context, no real experience of the country or the people in-between. The power of the landscapes is an integral part of any journey in Mongolia and that’s why their must always be some driving days.

I (Jess) am the owner of EL. As well as the owner of EL, I also design the itineraries and continue to work as a guide on some of them so I keep up to date with what's happening on the ground in Mongolia. When designing all itineraries, I always make sure there is a balance between travelling, local interaction, exploring independently and a chance for 'time out' amongst Mongolia's stunning landscapes.

Everyone is equal and everyone is welcome. Solo traveller? Looking for a tailor made trip? Wanting to join a group trip? We try to focus on you as the individuals you are.

Our small group adventures operate with a maximum of between 4 to 6 people. There are no single supplement surprises for solo travellers.

Anyone in good health with normal, healthy fitness levels will enjoy an EL holiday although I ask that you make your own judgement according to your own fitness levels and general health.

You need to be flexible and patient. You must bring with you your willingness to participate and your sense of adventure and humour. Be responsible for yourself and use your common sense. You must also treat people the way you would wish to be treated. Travellers requiring full comfort and punctuality should take into consideration that without being an ‘extreme’ adventure, a journey through Mongolia unquestionably requires open mindedness and flexibility.

Tour Vehicles

For all trips, we use the Russian Furgon 4x4 vans. They have a high wheel-base, ample luggage space, a sociable layout with forward and backward facing seats, surround side windows and most importantly, impressive off-road capability.

(Each EL vehicle has it’s own simple mobile kitchen, its own sunshade, a small library as well as a 220v inverter/charger for charging camera batteries and laptops etc).

Accommodation

Some of the trips we offer are camping based - perfect for exploring the diverse landscapes of Mongolia. Our tents are VANGO Hurricane or Nemesis 200 (or equivalent standard of different brand). If you are a solo traveller we would try to give you your own tent for no extra cost. Each of our tour vans has a kitchen tent as well where you can gather if the weather is bad.

All of our itineraries use ger accommodation. This is not the large impersonal tourist ger camps. Instead, we use local ger accommodation provided by rural Mongolian families. Not only does this provide you with a more local and real insight into the way of life in rural Mongolia, it also helps to support the local communities through which you travel.

Meals

Your EL team will prepare your meals for you and we buy as much fresh produce as possible en-route - in the local shops and markets. We can also provide for vegetarians and those with dietary requirements.
