Located only 24 km from the capital of the country, San Jose, the Braulio Carrillo National Park is an attraction in the itineraries of wildlife. Samples of almost all varieties of native birds of Costa Rica, that inhabit its forests. Both the tropical moist forest, such as forest and montane moist pre Montano, are home to hundreds of varieties of orchids and ferns.
In the steep forested mountains, live 6000 species of plants (half of the species of plants there are in Costa Rica), of which at least 50 are endemic. In addition, you can find almost 515 species of birds (75% of the total of the country and 28 are endemic), thousands of insects, and dozens of reptiles and amphibians.
Among the mammals are present the large felines, such as the jaguar and puma, tapir, the anteater, 3 species of monkeys (50% of primate species of the country) and a wide variety of bats.
