Here I come (#1/8) Kings Bay is three miles in diameter and about 47 acres of spring fed water that stays 72 degrees all year around. The manatees come for a warm water shelter.
Getting to know you. (#2/8) It is legal to swim with the manatees in Crystal River. The Fish and Wildlife monitor the interaction. Tours meet at 6:15 am for the best encounter. Nov. to Feb is the best time to come, although a small population of manatees are present all year.
Always a photo Op (#3/8) Captains get in the water and shoot video. A DVD of your encounter is available for $35.00
Flossing manatee style (#4/8) Manatees eat over 60 types of plants, some of the the plants grow on ropes and other objects that spend a lot of time in the water.
'Don't stop yet' (#5/8) Some manatees seem to love interaction with humans. They will roll over to make sure just the right spot is given proper attention.
A Clear Blue Kayak on our clear blue spring waters (#6/8) We also rent single or double kayaks that can be taken out into Kings Bay for an adventure of your own. You'll see manatees, turtles, pelicans, osprey,and tarpon to name just a few as well as enjoy the scenic beauty of the bay.
