Elkins Ranch Golf Course (#6/11) Situated about 2 miles from the center of Fillmore, it has sweeping views of the valley and is a challenging championship golf course. The snack bar is famous for its cheeseburgers and hosts many community functions on its patio and grounds. The golf course celebrated its 50th birthday in July, 2012. On weekend evenings and holidays there is often a music, golf and BBQ dinner that attracts locals and visitors alike.
1800's Fountain at Rancho Camulos Museum (#7/11) The rancho is an original Spanish/California land grant and has been owned by only two families. The original owners, the Del Valle family built the adobe buildings and docent led tours take visitors to the school house, the chapel, the main living quarters, the old barn and it is the Home of Ramona. When Helen Hunt Jackson wrote the book in the 1800's, she named Rancho Camulos as Ramona's home. Each year on Ramona Days actors from the famous Hemet Ramona Pageant re-enact vignettes from the play to the pleasure of visitors. Tours and school field trips available.
Glen Tavern Inn (#8/11) The Glen Tavern Inn, a historic landmark in downtown Santa Paula is across the street from Railroad Plaza and a block from Main Street. It is rumored to be haunted. It is beautifully restored and celebrated its 100th birthday in 2011. It also boasts of a popular restaurant, Enzo's Italian,which is not to be missed.
The Murals of Santa Paula (#9/11) These murals (there are 9) are painted on the sides of downtown Santa Paula buildings by world class muralists. They depict the early history of the town and its culture. Take a self guided tour, just ask for a map at the Chamber of Commerce in the historic Southern Pacific Depot on 10th Street and Santa Barbara Street.
The Aviation Museum of Santa Paula Airport (#10/11) Step back into the past on the first Sunday of each month as at least 30 of the hangars open to the public for inspection. Santa Paula is known as the Antique Aircraft Capital of the World, a trip to the airport will tell you why.
Snow capped Mountains in a California Coastal Valley (#11/11) It can be 105 degrees somedays in August and 25 degrees somedays in Winter, and with the cold weather and rain, our mountains get a dusting of white, with pristine citrus and avocado orchards below. Only 10-25 miles from the ocean, the Heritage Valley is truly stepping back to the early 20th century. Still the largest industry in Ventura County and the Heritage Valley is agriculture. 60 miles away from Los Angeles, but 60 years in perception.
