We arrived expecting a somewhat mild trip on a raft due to lower than usual snow fall and subsequent lower flow rates in the Brown Canyon portion of the Arkansas River. We told Derek who was our guide that we wanted some excitement and he suggested the "Duckey boats" versus the large rafts. The Duckey is an inflatable kayak as we soon learned. All of the other participants chose the raft.
My wife and I chose to follow his advice. We are in our 50's and our son is a teen. During the safety briefings the guides jokingly told the group that we would be the entertainment for the other rafters. We enjoyed the extra attention though with a bit of intrepidation.
All I can say is WOW! If you go on a trip with Dvoraks and we suggest that you do, go for the Duckey boats. You will definitely work harder but you will enjoy the ride. By the way, the Duckey trip is not for young children or the faint of heart.

We did the Gunnison Gorge fly fishing trip and not only did we have a perfect anniversary trip but i caught the biggest Trout ever! My husband no longer holds the record and I'm coming back to this spot every anniversary. Incredible gorge and the food was to die for. I almost want to keep this a secret but it's almost private anyway with limited access to people. This is magic rafting.
I can't believe how my kids enjoyed this trip. The water, the hikes, the history lessons, the ancient culture hikes and just fun, fun and more. The boys want to become river guides now. What a way to spend the summer and get paid for it! Try the kids go free trips you can't beat it.
