  • Nirvana & Our second home ;)

By Sharon on May 30, 2013

The website was right when it said you would leave like you were family. We loved it. Everyone on staff was great! We like the idea of being able to do what we want, when we want and there was nothing forced at all. The staff was great...fun and very helpful. Thank you to all who made our stay one of the best ever.

I wear my Nirvana shirt with much pride! ;)

We'll be back! Be sure to say hello to everyone from Steve and Sharon and thank you all so very much!!

  • can't imagine a better choice

By Steve on Mar 24, 2013

The perfect place for a relaxing vacation. Fantastic location, rooms and value. Each more impressive than the last ... and then you meet the staff! Wonderful! They made the entire stay seem so effortless. Errol, Sandra and the crew can make absolutely any arrangements you need, while at the same time keeping that laid back Jamaican atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

  • Fantastic Trip!

By Amy on Mar 06, 2013

My husband and I have been to Jamaica several times and Nirvana is by far the best place we have stayed! The staff really made the experience exceptional and they all went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our vacation! The beauty of the location and grounds is unlike any other we've stayed at in Negril.

  • Another trip to paradise

By Rosemary on Jul 04, 2012

We stayed at Nirvana for our 5th time from April 17-May 1, 2012. It was our 30th wedding anniversary.
I cannot say enough about Nirvana, the great location, the beautiful grounds, the friendly, knowledgeable and hard working staff and the incredible beach.
We stay in a two bedroom cottage that has a large fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and living room. It takes about one minute you are on the beach where your chairs will be waiting for you once they know where you like to sit. There are the vendors that come along the beach like the fruit lady, the banana bread man, the patty man and many others. If you don't want anything all you have to do is say no thank you. We came for relaxation and that is exactly what we had with incredible surroundings and people.

  • Ahhhh…Nirvana

By Leila Young on Mar 30, 2012

    Ahhhh…Nirvana
    nir•va•na / nərˈvänə/
a place or state of oblivion to care, pain, or external reality
a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects there of liberation of the soul from the effects of karma and from bodily existents
Oblivious to care, pain, or external reality is my favorite definition. When you land on the shores of sunny Montego Bay, Jamaica you leave behind your external reality. The only thought you have is how it doesn’t get any better than this! Well, once you take a hour’s ride throughout the scenic countryside and arrive at Nirvana you realize there was so much more to this wonderful Caribbean island.
We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage complete with an inside AND outside shower. Very Sexy! This would prove to be very exhilarating during our stay! Our property manager was very warm, attentive and informative. She introduced us to the small close-knit staff of grounds keepers and housekeepers and security personnel. This was wonderful because if you are going to live with strangers for 7 days it sure is nice to be familiar with them and them with you.
The property is about 50 paces from the beautiful seven mile beach with all the accoutrements that one seeking to be in a state of bliss could possibly need.
Do yourself a favor go to Jamaica, Stay in NIRVANA! You will want to thank me.
We definitely plan a return stay this fall!!!

  • Nirvana #1 in my book

By rex paullus on Sep 12, 2011

i never write reviews... but this place was sooo good...i have to. First of all, I was greeted upon arrival (Rocky's is BEST transportation services... BEST..BEST) - the ladies were very pleasant and up-lifting. Big smiles and made me feel welcome (the big resorts are a bad joke+ the food is nasty). Rainbows right next door has amazing good jerk chicken and fish +other good HOME-COOKED food (off subject) We stayed in the owners villa which right on the beach=> UNBEATABLE... the good man Shine was always looking out for us at night time & giving us good advice. Both Shine and the gardener (forgot his name but has a bit of a stutter) are two exceptional people that left lasting impressions and gave me a new found hope in humanity (if you go to Alfred's, beware). Seriously, but all joking aside, I absolutely love EVERYTHING and every PERSON at Nirvana, Negril. We had the time of our lives! 9mile/mayfield/ysfalls/black river safari in that order remember Rocky's 4 best safe reliable transportation.

  • Great location!

By Sheri Kleeman on Jun 29, 2011

This is a great location for a couple or family wanting to experience the people. It's away from the all-inclusives and close to many restaurants, craft markets, water sports...

I'm conflicted as to whether the staff make the property or if it's the actual property. They are both spectacular!

This was our fourth trip to Jamaica, third to Negril and first to Nirvana. We will always stay at Nirvana from now on. We brought our kids, 17 and 15 who didn't want to leave!

  • Best Vacation Spot EVER!

By Michelle & Chris on May 25, 2011

My now-husband and I were married in Jamaica and spent our Honeymoon week at Nirvana on the Beach - which definitely lives up to its name!! It was a fantastic place to stay, made even more wonderful by the amazing people that work there - all so generous, friendly, and helpful!! The beach is clean and beautiful, you are steps away from restaurants, bars, and only about a 20 min walk to town. The cottages are wonderful - we had a sundeck cottage and it was sheer heaven! And always very clean, even had a radio with a CD/ipod dock, everything we could ask for. What a perfect spot to relax and really enjoy Jamaica. We will for sure be back!! We loved every minute of it!! (and i cried when we left - that never happens!)

  • The only place to stay when going to Jamaica

By Lianne Edborg on May 13, 2011

“The only place to stay when going to Negril, Jamaica”

We didn't want 5 star. We wanted experience. By far this was the best decision we could have made. Every morning we woke up to "Tillie" delivering fresh Mango, Pineapple, and bananas on on her head to our beachfront, and fresh orange juice from 'the juice guy". Everything you could pretty much want was delivered by the locals for a small price going up and down the beach. You quickly learned their names, and they yours. If there was anything you wanted, just ask "Errol", the day security, or "Shine", the night security, and they would make sure you got the best from the best, including parasailing, snorkelling, etc.. They also would guard your beach to make sure than when you didn't want bothered, you weren't. The best lunches were the Pattys (a meat or veggie pocket) and a red stripe or juice smoothy.
Because we stayed in the owner's villa, we were actually about 24 steps to the ocean from our porch. Again, the shopping could come to you, or you to one of the many shops along the beach. Entertainment was also plentiful with musicians stopping to play you the best of what they knew. If you see "Ali", tip him well. He is going to make it big someday and you will be able to say you met him on the beach at Nirvana!
Rick's Cafe was just a 10 min. drive away with one of our drivers, "Leo", or "Breezy". It being a little touristy was still worth the trip for the experience of watching all the jumpers, and our son Christian being taken under the wing of "Dino the Caveman", who taught him how to climb the cliffs and caves and jump from 35'. For him this experience was priceless. My recommendation would be to walk down the street a bit to eat at one of the other restaurants at a cheaper price. The drivers also knew where to go for whatever your desire. We recommend "Lobster" from Captain Moses's glass bottom boat for your snorkeling adventure. He loves what he does, and is so willing to share the history of the island with the kids. Not to mention his smile will melt your daughter's heart!
There are restaurants all up and down the beach within a 1 minute to a 10 minute walk depending on your pallet. From local Jamaican fare to Italian to American, the beach has it all. If you felt like cooking, one of the drivers would take you to the grocery store about 5 minutes away, as each cottage is fitted with a kitchen. Or it could be arranged for one of the ladies to prepare you and island meal right in your cottage, with you providing the groceries. (Can't get that in an all inclusive)! If you're craving good old pizza, make a right out of the drive onto the road and walk approx. 3/4 of a mile to the Italian cafe on your left. About $8 a pie and truly the best Italian pizza ever. Don't be intimidated by the locals along the way. Yes, they all want to sell you their jerk chicken(which we recommend straight across the road from Nirvana as "the best"), but you will be safe. Just watch traffic closely.
Nirvana is definitely a place to relax, get pampered, experience the island way, and develop everlasting relationships with the precious people that take care of you, if you so choose. If you're ones to keep to yourselves, it will be what you make of it.
We can't say enough about the meticulous housekeeping, Sandra or Doris who make sure everyday that you're happy, or the gardeners Moses 2(who carved me beautiful gourds to use as bowls) and Otis(who can climb a coconut tree with his bare feet to get us a fresh coconut!), and of course, Errol and Shine who made us feel safe and kept us safe. One last thing is that we recommend getting massages at any one of the girls up the beach (before the sunburn)! For $1 a minute they truly do an incredible job. And don't forget the sunblock. 50+ recommend and we still got our tan!
To our family in Jamaica: We love you all and can't imagine never meeting any one of you.

  • Absolutely the best in everything!

By Karen on Apr 13, 2011

I've been to Jamaica 4 times and stayed at Nirvana the last 2 visits. I will never stay anywhere else! The best staff, beautiful property and cool cottages. The cottages have great living space with a living room, dining area and full kitchen. When I step out the door, my toes are in the sand, the sun is shining and the breeze is blowing! Come home after a day on the beach and the staff has made a home cooked Jamaican meal at my request! CU next year!
