Carr-Saunders offers a variety of great value private rooms in the very heart of London. We are ideal if you want to explore the famous West End of London, with its shopping, theatres and museums. To start your day an excellent breakfast is also included in the rate.
Carr-Saunders is in shopping paradise with Oxford Street, Regent Street and Covent Garden all just a short walk away. Regent's Park, London Zoo, Madam Tussauds, the Planetarium and the British Museum are all also within easy walking distance.
There are a variety of private rooms available offering lots of flexibility and a little more privacy than a bed in a shared dormitory. The rooms all have bed(s), sink, wardrobe, and chair. The small double rooms have a 4' (123cm) wide bed. Three toilets and five showers are shared by around 12 rooms. Rates include an great English or continental breakfast, linen, towels and housekeeping.
Carr-Saunders has all you need for a great stay in London. Each floor also has a snack making area with microwave, kettle and toaster. The sunny common room on the ground floor has TV, sofas, vending machines, games and a pay-as-you-go internet terminal. There is also a full coin-operated laundy. Internet access is not yet available in the bedrooms but we are working on it!
Our friendly reception is open 8.00am and 10.00pm offering advice on local attractions, transport etc. Overnight reception is staffed by security staff. You can normally check-in to your room between 3.00pm and 9.00pm and should check-out by 10.30am. If you are in London before or after these times we can store bags (space permitting!) and can easily arrange late check-ins. We have 24 hour access via security card and no curfew.
Please note; some essential maintenance work will be carried out on the showers during the summer vacation. Shower facilities will still be available on every floor during this time. The snack making areas are also being refurbished a floor at a time - guests will have be given access to snack making areas on an alternative floor during this work.
Carr-Saunders is a Hall of Residence owned and Managed by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). It is open to the public during the university vacations offering great value central London accommodation. We are happy to accept guests of all ages however guests under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Directions
Carr-Saunders could not be better located with many of London's most famous attractions on the doorstep. The residence is a short journey from London's major airports and mainline stations. Six underground stations are within just 10 minutes walk bringing the whole of London within easy reach!
AIRPORTS
From Heathrow: Carr-Saunders can be reached by using the Piccadilly line to Leicester Square then by taking the northbound Northern line three stops to Warren Street. (A 40 minute journey)
From Gatwick: Carr-Saunders can be reached by taking the Gatwick Express to Victoria Station and then the Victoria Line (or bus 73) to Warren Street (a 30 minute journey).
From Stansted: Take the Stansted Express to Tottenham Hale, transfer onto the Victoria line and travel to Warren Street (a 45 minute journey).
From Luton: Take Thameslink to St. Pancras and then the Victoria line to Warrent Street (a 1 hour journey).
RAILWAY AND COACH STATIONS:
From Kings Cross / St. Pancras (Eurostar): Take the Circle, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitian lines to Euston Square or take one of the many busses towards Great Portland Street (10 minutes at most).
From Euston: Take the Circle, Hammersmith & City or Metropolitian Lines to Euston Square or Take one of the many busses towards Great Portland Street (8 minutes at most).
From Paddington: Take the eastbound Hammersmith & City or Circle lines to Great Portland Street. (The Hammersmith & City line platforms are at the rear of the station)
From Victoria Rail and Coach Station: Take the northbound Victoria Line to Warren Street or bus 73 to Tottenham Court Road.
From London Bridge: Take the northbound Northern line to Euston, change to the Charing Cross Branch and then travel one stop
