Adjacent to the Forbidden City, there is an aged lane named "Nan Luo Gu", in its surrounding area keeps many characterized Si He Yuan. Nan Luo Gu has over 800 years history, about 786 meters long from the North end to the South
end, the feature of this lane is lower of both end, and higher in the middle, and 16 Hu Tongs are symmetrically distributed on the both side of Nan Luo Gu, it presents original Turtle-Shell structure of Yuan Dynasty. Here has always been a major residence of imperial families, social celebrities and high officials. As the largest, the best-preserved and the highest-grade quadrangle cluster, there are 28 structures have been listed as protected heritage sites by the government.
