Talkeetna Alaska is located 2.5 hours north of Anchorage and is accessible by vehicle, the Alaska Railroad, or by small aircraft. The townsite is located halfway between Anchorage and the entrance to Denali National Park. Many visitors get their best views of Mt. McKinley from Talkeetna due to the picturesque proximity to the Alaska Range and it's surrounding rivers. Talkeetna is at the confluence of three rivers hosting all 5 species of slamon, and a wide variety of boating and rafting oppotunities.
Denali State Park is 45 minutes north of the townsite with hiking trails that afford acces to the tundra and great view of McKinley from above treeline. Talkeetna has a unique history, is big on character, and is the jumping off place for expeditions up McKinley - making this small town a special place to visit.
