Wandering Duck is a 69ft Canal Boat (or Narrowboat). We only have 8 beds and provide a very unique place to stay for venturing in to the Peak District National Park.
On board, guests can help themselves to free Fairtrade Tea, real ground coffee, and hot chocolate and marshmallows. You can also help yourself to free fruit.
Our lounge area has an acoustic guitar, a few games, a book exchange, and lots of information on the local area. We're very happy to help with making the most of your visit to the National Park.
We have an honesty bar on board - help yourself to wine, lager, and beer (we have our very own hand pump so you can pull your own beer!) Just write down what you've had to drink and pay us at the end of your stay.
Your hosts Mark and Ruth are well traveled and Mark used to be a travel agent so if you need any help with your travel arrangements (or you just want to hear some stories!) feel free to ask.
For a very memorable experience, come and stay on board the Wandering Duck!
Directions
Wandering Duck is moored at Bugsworth Basin. We are within walking distance of Whaley Bridge and Chinley train stations, and are easily reached by train from Manchester or Sheffield.
By road, we are situated off of the A6 (Manchester to Buxton), just north of Whaley Bridge. From Manchester you will go through Furness Vale before seeing a brown sign to Bugsworth Basin on the left (New Road - B6062). Travel along here for approximately 1.2 miles, then turn right at Brookside Road. Turn right opposite the Navigation Inn and you will find us at the end of the gravel track.
