Snorkel With Whale Sharks Multi Day Eco Tour

Photograph hundreds of whale sharks and giant mantas in the warm blue water off the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula as the feed and gather in the largest aggregation in the world.
Photographer Gregory Sweeney is your escort for this photography tour on our private 36ft charter boat that leaves daily from the docks of Isla Mujeres. We leave early and stay later for full days snorkeling with whale sharks. This gives you for maximum time in the water photographing and enjoying this incredible encounter with more intimate encounters than possible with the single day large group charters. The whale sharks feed at the surface making the photo opportunities spectacular and easy. Only snorkeling gear is required. As we are in blue water, visits by other pelagic species such as sailfish and manta rays are possible. This is a NON SCUBA trip and suitable for those who are comfortable with a snorkel in open water.




Swimming with the whale sharks in Cancun is a completely natural experience: They do not bait them, they do not chase or herd them and they do not contain whale sharks in anyway. The whale sharks continue feeding at the surface and do not react to our presence. Year after year we get wonderful encounters and plenty of whale sharks and mantas . After running this trip for over 10 years, I am still in awe of this experience.

A typical day begins when we depart at 7am sharp. It only takes a few minutes to walk to the wharf or we use the golfcart to carry our stuff. If the whale sharks are aggregating in a consistent location, we are hopefully in the water by 8am. Chances are there will be many whale sharks in the area, and you can have many encounters in one place in a short time frame.

This trip is a must do adventure for those who love the water and are comfortable in open water that is mostly calm and clear, but with no land or bottom in sight. We climb in and out of boats with either ladder or stern step. Scuba divers will love this trip though it is snorkeling only. This trip is suitable for children who are old enough to be on a boat all day and who are good swimmers.

A light breakfast, drinking water, snacks and drinks on the boat are included. Dinners are at the guest's own expense. There are numerous great restaurants walking distance to the hotel and most are moderately priced.

Our small groups are limited to 9 or less guests due to coast guard regulations for the boats. you must wear proper snorkeling gear and sun protection. there is only a small marine toilet on the boat and we stay out all day.
