Alaska State Museum Juneau, Alaska
Redesigned Alaskan cultural & natural history exhibits feature interactive activities and new acquisitions such as a full-scale locomotive while also offering updated favorites including the life-sized eagle nesting tree, SOS globe, and play ship.

The Alaska State Museum is temporarily closed for in-person visits due to the public health emergency. Please check out our website with many virtual resources. Once we re-open please visit us at the Fr. Andrew P. Kashevaroff (APK) building in downtown Juneau, for a uniquely comprehensive view of Alaska's history and diverse cultures including fine art, mining, fishing, forestry, tourism, Russia-America, and World War II. Science-on-a-Sphere TM is a six-foot globe showing animated displays of planetary data. There is a children's room, with a climb-aboard replica of a sailing ship. Besides the regularly changing temporary exhibits, the special 2020 summer show is "The History of Northern Northwest Coast Weaving". Also, see the State Library and the State Archives with Alaskana collections, newspapers and magazines, WiFi, and more as well as a small café and gift store on site. Once we re-open our hours will likely be 9am-5pm daily. Fall, winter and spring hours are 10am - 4pm Tuesday through Saturday. Youth are free & active military and senior discount.
